There is a detailed explanation available in our classics regarding diet and lifestyle to be followed, in order to preserve health. Yoga, the art of living is one of the great contributions of Indian culture.

  • Department of Swasthavrutta and Yoga imparts knowledge about different dimensions of health. It also deals with different measures to be followed in order to maintain health, as per classics and contemporary science.
  • The department mainly focuses on the preventive aspects of health care management. The care of the health of healthy individuals and prevention of disease occurrence is the main focus of our specialty. This specialty can be correlated with preventive and social medicine/ community medicine according to modern medical science.
  • The subject mainly deals with proper regimens to be followed to prevent diseases like Dinacharya (daily regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), personal and social hygiene (vayaktika and samajika sadvritta).
  • Knowledge of Prevention and curative aspects of communicable and non-communicable diseases, vaccinations, information regarding health organizations and administration, diet is the main focus. Balancing of physical and mental health through yoga comes under Swasthavritta.

Aims and Objectives

  • Educate the students to understand and practice principles of Ayurveda in diet and lifestyle for both preventive and curative aspects.
  • To impart detailed knowledge about lifestyle disorders and their preventive measures and curative aspect in Ayurveda.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of Yoga.
  • To know and involve in national health programs.

  • To develop Swasthavrittha department as a hub for health promotion and wellness incorporating the principles of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy

Activities of the department

  • Theoretical and practical classes to establish complete knowledge about Swasthavrutta and Yoga.
  • Students will be trained to prepare and deliver educational talks on health-related issues.
  • Department will organize educational visits to Rural Ayurvedic Dispensaries, Naturopathy center to observe their treatment modalities, visit Primary health centers.
